As someone getting started with Admiral Instruments, what’s the best way to get started with the platform? What’s the “Hello World” Example use case? Are there any guides that someone can follow?

# Battery Data Alliance Squidstat Cycler Demonstration

In this video, we demonstrate the Squidstat cycle for the LF Energy Battery Data Alliance at UT Austin. The demonstration is on a Samsung 25R battery of 2500 mAh and explains how to run basic tests, including measuring open circuit potential and setting up a testing flow. It also shows how to build custom experiments, such as applying discharges and analyzing voltage.

The demo is a good first run: reproduce the open-circuit-potential measurement, then try the discharge workflow on a cell you can test safely. Record the Squidstat model, software version, channel setup, and protocol settings alongside the data; those details make it much easier to repeat the run or compare results later.

For a first run, follow the video’s open-circuit-potential step, then set up a low-rate discharge with voltage cutoffs appropriate to the cell’s datasheet. That gives you a simple check that the channel, wiring, and test flow are behaving before trying a custom protocol. Save the experiment definition alongside the resulting data, so the settings used to produce the voltage trace are documented.

For a first run, follow the video’s open-circuit measurement with one simple discharge, then check that the exported data includes timestamps, current, voltage, and units. That gives you a small end-to-end example to verify before building a longer cycling protocol.
